Makati works best when you choose the right pocket

Makati is one of the easiest Manila bases for first-timers and work trips because food, malls, offices, and short rides are usually close by.

But Makati is not one single experience. Salcedo, Legazpi, Greenbelt, Rockwell, and Poblacion can feel very different, especially at night.

Local rule of thumb: choose the Makati pocket for the rhythm you want: calm mornings, mall convenience, polished comfort, nightlife, or a short work commute.

  1. If this is your first Manila trip, start with Legazpi, Salcedo, or Greenbelt/Glorietta for easier food and walking.
  2. If meetings decide the trip, stay on the side of Makati closest to the main building or office cluster.
  3. If quiet evenings matter, choose Rockwell or calmer parts of Salcedo and Legazpi instead of nightlife-heavy streets.
  4. If nightlife is part of the plan, Poblacion can be convenient, but soundproofing and building rules matter.
